A little later this afternoon, Kerry and Galway square off in the All Ireland football championship final.

In a close game that the Hawkeye controversy almost jeopardized, Galway defeated Derry. The Tribesmen eventually won thanks to Shane Walsh's 45-meter field goal, and they went on to make history.

The Kingdom, on the other hand, prevailed against Dublin in a legendary match to get to yet another All Ireland final. Seanie O'Shea's incredible last-second free gave Kerry a spot in the championship game and forced The Dubs to retire for another season.

At Croke Park this afternoon, 82,300 people are anticipated in attendance.

Quotes corner

Jack O'Connor on the Dublin victory

"That game was against us, and there was a sizable breeze there."

"We had tried everything up to that point, but I believe the key was Shane Ryan's success on all of our kick-outs in the final 10 minutes when Dublin was pushing.

"I believe that was really important. I assumed that we were finished if they turned over one of those kick-outs.

For four or five of those kick-outs, somebody like Brian O Beaglaoich must have showed short, but more significantly, he burst out and broke the line and got us rolling again.

"Even if we were a little wasteful, we were still generating a little bit down the other end. Dublin is a fantastic squad, but what a struggle.

"We were up against arguably the best squad in history, so you can imagine how long it took us to succeed."
