The American League is riding an eight-game winning run into this Midsummer Classic. Since 1997, the AL has won all but three All-Star Games. Their lineup is led by Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge, who has 33 home runs at the All-Star break, tying Roger Maris (1961) for the most by a Yankee at the break. With six All-Stars each, the Yankees and Blue Jays are tied for the most. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the MVP of last year's game, is among the Blue Jays' representatives. ace of the Tampa Bay Rays Shane McClanahan is making his All-Star debut after leading MLB in ERA (1.71) and WHIP (0.70). (0.80). Shohei Ohtani, the reigning American League MVP, leads all AL players in his second All-Star appearance.

The Dodgers have six All-Stars on their roster, including pitcher Tony Gonsolin, who is 11-0 with a 2.02 ERA. With all of the major names participating, it's possible that who doesn't play on Tuesday will have a considerably bigger effect on the outcome. Both teams will be without players because they are either injured or choose to skip the tournament, but the American League, without Mike Trout, Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve, Justin Verlander, George Springer, and others, will be losing far more picked talent than the National League. The Midsummer Classic is usually a toss-up, but it makes sense for the National League to win here, in the home stadium of the club that has been the best in the National League this year and the best in all of baseball for the last few years.
