FIFA World Cup 2022 is on its way! Here is everything you need to know about it:

A tournament billed as "the best tournament ever," controversies have swirled around it since FIFA's contentious decision to host it in Qatar. Despite this, it promises to be a World Cup of change, uniqueness, and unpredictability, with high-quality football for fans to cheer on as their team and heroes compete for glory. A World Cup is the pinnacle of football, and everyone hopes that their team will be the one to lift the iconic trophy above their heads.

Because Qatar is mostly desert, the summer climate is unsuitable for such high-intensity sports. With temperatures potentially reaching 45°C, it was inevitable that there would be a change in schedule, which was the case. To avoid the issue of heat, the tournament will be played in winter for the first time in its 92-year history, from November 21st to December 18th. Based on studies of average temperatures in Doha from 1991 to 2020, the temperature will most likely be no higher than 30°C at this time. This is clearly a better temperature for football.

Qatar was clearly unprepared for a sporting event of this magnitude, despite the construction of seven new stadiums, a new airport, new roads, and a new Metro. Since the announcement of the tournament's location in Qatar, over 6,500 workers have died, the majority of whom were migrant workers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. So far, Qatar has failed to address or investigate these issues in depth, instead claiming "natural causes" such as heart attacks or respiratory failures were to blame, a claim that has been met with skepticism from numerous experts.

Qatar has also run out of affordable hotels for visiting fans, necessitating the use of tents without air conditioning on the desert plains for $200 (15,611) per night.

In terms of football, Qatar is the only team making their tournament debut this year. Canada, on the other hand, will compete in the tournament for the second time in history and for the first time in 36 years.

The groups to watch are undoubtedly Group E (Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan) and Group H (Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, Korea Republic), which are most likely to go down to the wire. France (in Group D) will undoubtedly be hoping to break the "Champions Curse" and avoid elimination in the Group Stage.

Due to their respective countries' groups, the earliest place the legendary Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo can face each other in what is likely to be their final World Cup would be the semi-final. If Argentina and Portugal finish in opposite positions in their groups, they may meet in a semi-final. If both finish first in their respective groups, the earliest the icons could meet would be in the final, in a match that would undoubtedly bring the world to a halt.

Overall, this tournament is likely to be one-of-a-kind, with new overachievers, underachievers, and potentially new champions. Football fans will undoubtedly look forward to this tournament.
